AboutJeffrey Strand, American-Canadian tenor, will make multiple debuts and appearances in 2021-2022 season, including covering the role of Manrico in Il trovatore at Opéra de Montréal and will appear with Calgary Opera as the Alfredo cover in La Traviata, Kromov in The Merry Widow, La thérière/La rainette in L'enfant et les sortilèges, Wilhelm Grimm in The Brothers Grimm, among other projects. Jeffrey also recently sang Norman Robertson in John Estacio's The Cipher Clerk, Garrett in a workshop of Kellie-Marie Murphy's Arriving at the Fire, The Witch in an abbreviated Hansel & Gretel, as the Tenor Soloist in The Yuletide Sessions, and Kaspar in Amahl and the Night Visitors with Calgary Opera and he was scheduled to sing Bénédict in Béatrice et Bénédict and Scaramuccio in Ariadne auf Naxos with Calgary Opera prior to the COVID-19 outbreak. Other recent engagements include Don José in Carmen with Mercury Opera, covering Tamino in Die Zauberflöte at Sarasota Opera as a Studio Artist, covering Manrico in Il trovatore as a Bonfils-Stanton Apprentice Artist at Central City Opera, and recording excerpts of Don Dillworth's opera Rostam with Phoenix Opera.
Jeffrey previously won First Prize in the Southwest Vocal Competition, covered Don José in Carmen at the Brott Opera Festival and performed Beethoven’s An die ferne Geliebte as a Young Artist at the National Arts Centre in Ottawa. Jeffrey was a Young Artist with Tulsa Opera, covering the role of Lennie in Carlisle Floyd's Of Mice and Men, and performs frequently with Phoenix Opera. He regularly performs oratorio and concert music, recently appearing as the Tenor Soloist in Haydn's Die Schöpfung, Gounod's Messe solennelle de Sante-Cécile, Beethoven's 9th Symphony and Mass in C, the Evangelist in Bach's St. John Passion, and as the tenor soloist in Puccini's Messa di Gloria, in Vaughan Williams' Hodie, and in Handel's Messiah with members of the Oklahoma City Philharmonic, the Westchester Oratorio Society, Phoenix Opera Orchestra, the Canyon Symphony Orchestra, Chandler Symphony and others.
